Description
Edible chestnuts are fruits of a tree called sweet chestnut. This deciduous tree can grow up to 25 meters and can live up to 600 years. Nowadays, the sweet chestnut can be found mainly in southern Europe and in western Asia. The fruits are harvested by hand in October and, in addition to them, tannin is obtained from the tree as well. Chestnuts are normally baked or are used for the preparation of flour.
